Hi! My name is Jimmy Painter. I gave my life to Jesus in 1976 and I’ve never gotten over it! Jesus gave me hope, gave me life, gave me Heaven, gave me purpose…He gave me everything! Next to Jesus, God gave me His best when He let me marry my best friend Margot. We have have been newlyweds now for over 39 years! We are blessed to have two wonderful daughters, a fantastic son-in-law, and a spoiled rotten dog named Clancy.
I have been in pastoral ministry for over 35 years, and serve as Senior Pastor of Cresthill Church in Bowie,Maryland, where I am blessed to be in my 25th year!
First Corinthians 9:22 drives both my personal walk with Jesus, as well as my ministry. The Apostle Paul said,”I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some.” Nothing more-nothing less-nothing else. I am souled out, committed to doing whatever it takes to reach someone with the love of Jesus.
My musical influences are a bit eclectic, ranging from Bluegrass to Blues, Gospel, Soul, R&B, Country, to what today is called Classic Rock. Artists like Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Allman Brothers, and Bad Company all influenced me before I came to Christ. Early in my walk with Christ I encountered bands like Second Chapter of Acts and Resurrection Band, as well as a pioneer in Contemporary Christian Music named Randy Stonehill.
The three words that describe me are Radical Jesus Freak. That is why I am a part of Mission 40, because it is about far more than just making great music-it is about making an investment in Eternity. That is why I’m all in!
